Passion Fruit Chiffon Cake

Aaah...... you will see more passion fruits posting this few days!  I still have some passion fruits left and today is Passion Fruit Chiffon Cake!

Passion Fruit Chiffon Cake

6 egg yolks
75g sugar
82g passion fruits juice ( I added in 1 tbsp passion fruit seeds)
20g water
4 tbsp vegetable oil
150g self raising flour
1-2 tbsp poppy seeds (optional)

6 egg whites
60g sugar
¼ tsp cream of tartar

1.  Prepare the egg yolk batter: In a mixing bowl, combine egg yolks and sugar.
Hand whisk till the sugar dissolved. Add in oil, passion fruit juice and poppy
seeds (if added). Stir till well combined.

2.  Fold in flour until it forms batter and no lumps left. Set aside for later use.

3.  Prepare the egg white foam: In another bowl, beat egg whites till it form soft peak.
Gradually add in sugar till it finished. Add in cream of tartar and continue beating at
high speed until frothy and stiff peaks form.

4.  Pour batter into ungreased 9" (22cm) chiffon pan and bake in a preheated oven at
170C for 30-40mins or until it is cooked.

5.  Remove from oven and immediately invert cake onto table until it is completely
      cooled before unmould it

The sugar content in this recipe is just right for me not that sweet or bland ...... so don't reduce it anymore as the passion fruits usually are tart.

  1. This is a nice change from the usual pandan chiffon. I have seen passion fruit in Jusco and maybe I should buy and try this out.

    1. Hi Phong Hong,
Guess what, I have yet to bake pandan chiffon. Yeah, it is good for a change to bake different flavour chiffon cake.

  2. Your chiffon looks so beautiful. And guess what, my chiffon just came out from the oven half an hour ago.

    1. Hello Veronica,
Thank you for you sweet comment. Oh, are you posting your chiffon cake? Would love to glimpse at it and am curious what chiffon cake you have baked?

  3. Hi Mel, nice chiffon cake, very well baked. I guess the passion fruit smell heavenly. You try passion fruit ice cream, very nice too. And before serving, you put some fresh passion fruit as topping, it taste heavenly.

Another suggestion passion fruit with carrot juice taste excellent.

Have a nice week ahead, regards.

    1. Hello Amelia my sweet lady....

Oh, I like your suggestion on the passion fruit and carrot juice. I might try it for breakfast!
Thanks Amelia you are so sweet....

  4. Oh, I just love this passionfruit chiffon very much. I'm not a big fan of passionfruit but my hubby is. I guess I'm just too lazy to chew the pulps, haha!

  5. I made this chiffon once, but my family complaint this chiffon too plain and sour, hehehe..

  6. Your chiffon cake is so good! Since I cannot buy chiffon cake around here (it's rare to see), I need to make it one day. It's on my list to bake (for many years, I know...). :)
